Simon Fryer is an artist of considerable versatility, as at home with the music of our time as with historical performance. Principal Cello of the Regina Symphony Orchestra and Artistic Director of the Women’s Musical Club of Toronto, Simon is sought after as teacher and coach.

Formerly a member of the Juno-winning Penderecki String Quartet and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Simon is known for his collaborative skills and dedication to new creation. Of his more than 20 recordings Music of a life so far… and Victorian Sonatas with pianist Leslie De’Ath have gained particular acclaim. 

Proudly running the Prairie Cello Institute, Simon has previously held faculty positions at Wilfrid Laurier University, the University of Toronto, the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music, and the Casalmaggiore International Festival.
