“Inspiring Music – Inspired Musicians”
RSS provides a living answer to the question: “How do I grow my musical interest over the summer?”
Regina Summer Strings is where your string playing will blossom! We offer an intense, high-calibre musical learning experience with a faculty of outstanding performers and teachers, dedicated to a supportive yet exacting teaching style. We look forward to welcoming you to the wonderful Riddell Centre on the University of Regina campus, for another year of fantastic music making this July!
Our program (June 29 – July 4), is designed in accordance with a holistic philosophy that seeks to develop physical and mental well-being as well as musical and technical abilities and ensemble skills.
RSS runs from 8:45am to 4:30pm each day involving a carefully balanced schedule of orchestra, chamber music, and choir. Complementary sessions are offered that may include contemporary instrumental techniques, active listening, wellness, and more. Participants bring their own lunch and all activities are supervised. At the end of the week our closing concert presents all participants with the opportunity to celebrate their achievements of the week through performance.
The Regina Chamber Music Festival runs simultaneously with RSS allowing us to invite special guest artists – this year the Penderecki String Quartet – to bring their distinct perspectives to our program. This opportunity for RSS participants to engage with broader musical horizons represents a significant step in every musician’s development.
